A recent poll shows Americans believe the government is the biggest threat to citizens’ rights.

Fifty-six percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday say they think the federal government’s become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens.

Few people like insurance companies. Most of us really hate and fear the way they rape our paychecks on a regular basis, yet Rasmussen Reports has a poll showing people still fear the U.S. Government more than the insurance collectors!

The United States is tired of politics as usual in D.C. and want to see major changes in big government. Citizens want a reduction in the size and cost as well as a stop to the invasion of their everyday lives. Most importantly the U.S. citizens want a government that represents the people, not special interest groups or corporations.

An article in USA Today exposes the loss of 289 firearms over a three year period by the Department of Homeland Security and that 15 are known to have ended up in criminal hands. With such a large number of lost firearms it would not be unreasonable to think that more of the missing weapons are in criminal hands than is stated, they simply haven’t been accounted for as yet.

The Rising Tide

The rising tide of dispossessed and impoverished Americans seems set to flood the U.S. During one of our countries worst periods in recent history things seem to go from bad to worse at every turn, and yet politicians play out the same lies and thuggery at will. Corporatism and greed have destroyed the back bone of manufacturing within the U.S. and eviscerated the middle class from our society sending jobs overseas.

Passing of a legend.

Whether you liked former Congressman Charlie Wilson or not, you have to admire someone who believed in something and fought for it with every ounce of his being. If Charlie was even just a little like the character portrayed in the Hollywood film “Charlie Wilson’s War” then we lost a truly great man. The ball-less self serving wimps in Congress today could take a lesson or two from his story.

Miss me yet?

On the lighter side of things, someone put up a billboard saying “Miss me yet?” with a picture of Bush. That is so great, I know there are plenty of folks out there who never thought they’d miss ol’ George but they sure do now!

I respect John McCain, however his daughter Meghan needs to keep her opinions to herself. If she is truly a representative
of her generation, then things are worse than I ever imagined.

In her opinion Meghan seems to think that just because many people in our country are concerned about the obvious educational deficiencies of our young, somehow in her mind this translates as being ‘racist’. This is one more reason we need to get the neo-hippy socialists out of our educational systems.

American youth have more potential in them than any other, however they are not being given the knowledge and discipline needed to become informed and well educated voters. Being concerned about this is not ‘racist’ it is normal, and it is abnormal to allow this trend to continue.

I think Meghan has spent too much time on extracurricular activities and not enough time studying, she gets and “F” for her final grade.
